We are currently developing a system to provide advice on the referral method to STH for all available examinations listed in iRefer.

In the meantime please see the guidance below for accessing services at STH:

X-Rays -

This is a walk-in service.  Please see information in the box on the left below.

CT, MRI, Ultrasound scans & Fluoroscopy examinations (Barium studies etc.) -

In order to help us provide an efficient service to your patients please fax all requests to the contact details on the right of this page.  Alternatively please send them by post to the call centre address.

Breast imaging -

Symptomatic breast imaging: There is no direct access for symptomatic breast imaging. Referral is via choose and book surgical breast clinic appointments.

Routine breast screening ages 50-70 is by invitation only

Women over 70 may self refer for routine screening by calling 0114 271 1920

Angiography -

This is normally only available to specialist referrers.  Please e-mail us at the NHSnet address below if you need advice.

Walk-in service for X-Rays

 

We operate a walk-in service (no appointment required) for routine x-ray investigations

The X-Ray service is open                              Monday - Friday  (excluding public holidays)    8am - 6pm

NB Please advise patients that we are not currently open at the weekends.

Patients should bring with them a fully completed GP request card.  Instructions on how to find the departments are included on the request card.

Accessing other examinations

 

Request cards for CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluroscopy and nuclear medicine (isotope) examinations should be faxed or posted directly to the Radiology Appointments Call Centre, as this will enabe us to ensure correct bookings are made.

Radiology have developed a new request card (Ref no: PD4465) which should be now be used for all investigations .
